On September 14, 2026, team of Gloryren and the delegation from Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital of Henan Province (Henan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital) visited University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich (TUM Hospital) of the Technical University Munich to meet with Prof. Gschwend, a member of the TUM Hospital Supervisory Board. The meeting focused on clinical practice, research development, and department management. During the meeting, Prof. Gschwend introduced his department’s clinical and research focus, as well as its organizational structure. The delegation from Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital of Henan Province (Henan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital) then presented their respective departments and clinical focus. Both sides exchanged views on basic research and clinical practice, the translation of research findings into clinical applications, and the integration of clinical and research activities. They also held in-depth discussions on department management, promotion for physician career development, hospital performance evaluation, and health insurance systems in Germany and China. In response to questions from the delegation, Prof. Gschwend shared his practical experience and insights from his professional career. He noted that clinical practice and research activities could reinforce each other, while also placing greater demands on physicians’ time management and overall capabilities. In both Germany and China, sustaining high-quality research alongside demanding clinical duties and translating research findings into clinical applications remain common challenges for healthcare professionals. Prof. Gschwend emphasized that clinical practice provides valuable research opportunities and helps identify real-world clinical needs, while research findings can, in turn, improve clinical practice and enhance the quality of patient care. The close integration of clinical work and research is therefore essential to the long-term development of medical disciplines. Achieving an effective balance between the two requires considerable time and effort, as well as the continuous exploration of working patterns suited to individual circumstances. This exchange further deepened both sides’ understanding of the healthcare systems and clinical research models in Germany and China. The delegation from Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital of Henan Province (Henan Provincial Orthopedic Hospital) felt that the visit had provided valuable insights into the German healthcare system, department management, and the integration of clinical practice and research. It also offered useful experience for further developing international medical exchanges and cooperation in the future.
